Combining the player direction with the shooting direction adds that extra level of strategy and challenge that actually makes this game quite compelling considering how short it is. Kudos on making this in 3 hours. I think you've done great. Also your use of the theme is hilarious haha.
Reminds me of that story where a student was assigned to write an essay defining courage and all they handed in was a piece of paper saying "This is courage." Probably a fake story, but still fun.
(As for the game, I'd say considering you made it in 3 hours, it's actually pretty decent. I would've preferred if you shot using your mouse button instead of the space key and the controls felt a bit janky, but I guess that is part of the concept)
